Turners Restaurant in Birmingham has been crowned The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year for the Midlands 2013/14.

The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year awards gauge the restaurants, pubs and cafés from around the UK where people love to go when eating out. Becoming one of the regional winners in the awards is a prestigious accolade for Turners Restaurant as the awards are based on nominations from tens of thousands members of the public who support their favourite local eateries.

This is the third client of Leisure Marketing Midlands LTD to win the regional award, each supplied and coached by Director James Day - "It's all about focus" Comments James 'We work solely with top restaurants and Chef focused food outlets to enable them to learn how to focus on what is important - their customers - its easy to be distracted with the rest of the business - but at the end of the day the old adage still remains - customer is King. So when such awards come along we help our clients focus and raise awareness - after all its what our company does and we are delighted with the on-going results."

Previous client winners were Chef Andy Waters with Edmunds winning 2011, then The Bluebell, Henley In Arden 2012 and now Chef Richard Turner for Turners Restaurant Birmingham. "Being a Chef I focus on the ingredients and what goes out to the customers, and I am the first to admit, but not to many, that sometimes in the past I have lost focus on the customers' needs, but since we started working with Leisure Marketing, we have begun to focus more on what happens out front - and listen to customer feedback - Even launching a dedicated vegetarian menu, with much acclaim -- this award, which is voted for by the public really goes to show how much we have come on, and we thank all our customers for their support, and feedback"

This year, an impressive 39,000 people submitted nominations for their favourite restaurants in the awards. The Good Food Guide verifies all the nominations before picking ten regional winners who represent some of the best dining experiences to be had around the country.

To qualify for the awards, aimed at championing local neighbourhood eateries, restaurants needed to be independently run and offer regional or local produce where possible. Turners Restaurant fought off stiff competition from others in the Midlands to scoop the win for the region. Chef patron Richard Turner was thrilled to win the award, commenting: ‘We are delighted that our customers voted for Turners as their favourite restaurant in the region, and honoured that such a small neighbourhood restaurant as ours, located in leafy Harborne on the outskirts of Birmingham, can achieve this national recognition from The Good Food Guide.’

Turners Restaurant is one of ten regional winners from around the UK, one of whom will go on to be named as the overall The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year 2014. The winner of this revered award will be announced at a ceremony in central London on 19th June 2013.

Self taught Chef Patron Richard Turner received his first award, a Michelin Star in 2009 shortly after he opened his bijou 24 cover Turners Restaurant, located on the high street of the sleepy suburb of Harborne, located just outside Birmingham City Centre. Focused on the seasons and flavour, Chef Patron Richard is a favourite amongst Midlands diners who like the intimate feel of his restaurant, and the attention to detail and creativity of his food, without gimmicks.

Turners Restaurant sought the services of Leisure Marketing Midlands LTD to help re-focus the business, and branding, with a  full re-launch, including logos, website, social media and PR. More Here

James also worked with Chef Suree Coates of the King and Thai in Shropshire when she won her UK Thai Curry Chef of the Year 2012 award, and more recently has also been working with Chef Lal Haider of The Old Hall Persian Restaurant in Dorrington that this week also scooped the top prize at the Shropshire curry awards. Maybe he really does have the secret recipe for success.
